Quality and service
Since the very start of BaseClear, our focus has been on quality and service. These are the issues on the basis of which we want to distinguish ourselves.  It is for this reason, for example, that we always investigate why a test didn't work in the event of a failure. We want to be sure that we didn't do anything wrong when carrying out the test. This is one of the things that makes us stand out amongst our competitors in the market.

Even in the early years, we looked around for GLP and ISO-like guidelines. The ISO accreditation became a necessity when we started with the paternity tests (marketed via daughter company Verilabs). We decided to organise our complete laboratory according to the ISO17025 guidelines (formally Sterlab). That enables us to extend the ISO accreditation for other tests, should it be necessary. Our lab has been ISO 17025 accredited since 2006. We believe that working according to such quality guidelines is where the future lies.

Challenges
In the future, we want to continue working along the same lines as we do now, with a focus on quality and service for the different markets, the common factor being the association with DNA. We see that the market is growing, which enables us to offer more services. This is clearly the case in applied markets these days, where the need for DNA technology is rising and where the people who are involved often have less experience working with DNA. We want to offer our high value-added expertise in these areas. At the moment, the greatest opportunities we see for BaseClear lie in the markets for forensics, quality assurance and next generation sequencing. We have already initiated new services for these markets. We expect more possibilities in the future, for example in the medical field. We intend to continuing growing and setting up new activities. That is key to keeping our business nice and challenging.
