DNA PURIFICATION MARKET SURVEY

Baseclear has performed a market survey regarding DNA isolation and purification. Zymo Research was rated BETTER, FASTER, EASIER and CHEAPER than current methods or kits used by researchers.

The market research consisted of two parts:

• Part 1: What products do researchers use for DNA purification and plasmid isolation, and what they find important?
• Participants received one or more free test kits from Zymo Research as a thank you
• Part 2: How do researchers rate the test kit of Zymo Research compared to their current kit or method?

Conclusions part 1:

• Silica columns are used by most researchers for DNA purifications and/or plasmid isolations.
• Qiagen was used by most researchers, Zymo second most, and many smaller competitors were found.
• Quality was mentioned as most importance aspect in DNA purification
• Pricing was rated as relatively unimportant by most researchers.
• Zymo is rated above average by known users.  

Conclusions part 2:

• All characteristics of Zymo Research products are rated above average
• Most researchers find Zymo products better than kits or methods they use currently
• Pricing rated undetermined (most people don't know the princing)
• However, list price Zymo Research much lower than competitor Q!
• Ease of use better / much better than current kits and/or methods
• Processing time much faster than current kits and//or methods
• Over 80% would recommend or highly recommend Zymo to other researchers or scientists

OVERALL CONCLUSION

The test kit of Zymo Research have shown researchers a BETTER, CHEAPER, FASTER and EASIER alternative for their DNA purifications and plasmid isolations!
