When can I reach Baseclear?
Baseclear can be reached each working day between 08.30 until 17.30 from Monday to Friday, with exception of Dutch Holidays.

How do I submit samples to Baseclear?
We prefer that samples are send in our special Baseclear vials which can be found in our Baseboxes. Send your samples to Baseclear in a sufficient stamped envelope to our visiting address, or bring the samples yourself to:

What are the criteria for primer design for single read sequencing?
Please note that the first 50 basepairs after the primer are not optimal sequenced. For this reason, we advice to develop a primer at least 100 bp upstream of the region of interest, in order to obtain optimal sequencing results.

Does Baseclear also offer a primer walking service?
Yes, primer walking is the same as our project sequencing service.

What is Illumina GAIIx sequencing?
This Next Generation sequencing (NGS) technology makes it possible to sequence a complete genome within weeks, at a fraction of the costs of conventional (Sanger) sequencing technologies. This new sequencing technology has the power and flexibility to enable a wide range of genome-scale applications at the lowest cost per base.

Can I order a single lane on the Illumina platform?
Yes we offer this possibility. We even order the possibility of ordering part of a lane. Your sample will be multiplexed with other samples on the same lane, leading to a significant cost advantage.

Which coverage do you advice?
We have considerable experience in a wide variety of next generation sequencing projects. We can advice you which coverage is needed for your project.

How is the data delivered?
The data can be delivered either as raw data, or as aligned and assembled data. We have in-house bioinformatcs, and can assist you in all downstream analysis.

What is the MicroSEQ® system?
The MicroSEQ system is a validated method for fast and reliable identification of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi and also algae). The system is based on PCR and sequencing of the 16S/D2 LSU rRNA genes. This system provides accurate and reproducible results without the need for time-consuming growth.

How should I deliver my samples to test for mycoplasma?
Cell lines should be cultured in the absence of antibiotics for 3 days without refreshment of culture media. If cells are cultured for a longer period, substances may accumulate in the medium that inhibit the test. The samples can be frozen after this pre-treatment.

What is the delivery time for lab products?
Baseclear always strives to deliver lab products within one week. If this delivery time is not possible for some reason, we always try to inform our customers as good as possible.
