METAGENOMICS
Studying the collective genomes of all the microorganisms in a sample is referred to as metagenomics. The genetic material which is recovered from a sample can be analysed to determine which organisms are present in the sample.
BaseClear is currently working on a number of metagenomic projects, based on new generation sequencing technology. The HiSEQ2000 platform has the ability to produce paired end sequencing reads up to 100 bp.
It is possible to first amplify the 16S and D2-LSU regions of the microbes before sequencing, or the total genomic DNA can be sequenced. The final sequencing strategy will be determined in close collaboration between the customer and our product specialist.
