Erwin van Rijn
Together with Derek Butler, Erwin is responsible for BaseClear's Gene to Protein services. He focuses mainly on gene synthesis, synthetic library construction, and cloning and primer synthesis. Erwin manages the team of technicians who carry out the laboratory work and solve any problems that might arise. In addition to this, he maintains the contacts with customers about these services.

Recombinant DNA cloning is not always easy to execute and often time-consuming. BaseClear has considerable experience in challenging cloning projects and can complete projects very efficiently, due in part to our in-house sequencing and gene synthesis facilities.
Experienced in challenging cloning projects
BaseClear has extensive experience in the creation of DNA constructs, ranging from the cloning of PCR products to the construction of large and complex vectors. Cloning projects can be complicated due to issues such as gene toxicity, large vector or insert size, unstable DNA elements or the presence of DNA secondary structures. We have experience with many of these difficulties and can help you.
Interactive and controlled projects
During the planning and execution of cloning projects, we consult our customers and ensure that every aspect of the work is agreed upon before it is performed. In addition to this, we analyse every step of the cloning process. This enables us to assess the success of every stage. If any given stage is not successful, we are able to rapidly and precisely identify the reason why.
Plasmid or vector construction service
BaseClear now offers the option of carrying out your entire cloning projects from start to finish. In such cases we not only perform the cloning itself, but we determine the strategy to be followed, we carry out the required gene synthesis and mutagenesis and subsequently do the actual cloning and sequencing of the resulting plasmids. Needless to say, we do all this subject only to close consultation with our customers.

For more straightforward cloning jobs, we offer an attractively priced standard PCR-cloning service. For a fixed price, we will execute your cloning project and verify the results, all within 10 working days.
