FAQ (Frequently asked questions)

Gene to protein services

What is the difference between in-house and OEM syntheses?
Our in-house and OEM gene synthesis services only differ in price and delivery time (OEM service has a lower price, but longer delivery time).

What is included in the standard gene synthesis service?
Our gene synthesis service includes the synthesis of the gene, which is subsequently cloned in our standard vector pUC19. The construct is then sequenced to verify the presence of the correct gene sequence.

Is it also possible to clone the gene in my own vector?
Yes this is possible. BaseClear has considerable experience in challenging cloning projects and can complete projects very efficiently, due in part to our in-house sequencing and gene synthesis facilities (this is not included in our standard gene synthesis service).

Is it also possible to create mutations?
Yes, this is certainly possible with our mutagenesis service. Site-directed or random mutagenesis can be applied to any DNA-fragment cloned into a plasmid vector. We can help you to introduce a range of mutations, varying from point mutations to deletions or insertions.
Baseclear can even create synthetic DNA library to optimise a gene sequence with a view to improving enzymatic activity.
