BaseClear offers a complete range of microbial genomics services for many applications including clinical trials wherein microbiome readouts are also part of results: metagenomics, meta transcriptomics, microbiome analysis and microbial strain characterization for regulatory approval.

For our operations department, we are looking for candidates for the position of: 

BIOINFORMATICIAN

(32 – 40 hours per week)


What will you be doing?

Data analysis for commercial projects is done within the bioinformatics team. These projects are either standardized, using our in-house optimized pipelines to perform mass analyses, or customized, where a novel approach to the data analyses needs to be thought out and performed. Besides, the bioinformatics team is also responsible for maintenance of our internal (meta)genomics and transcriptomics pipelines and databases and for the set-up of new products together with our Product Development team.

In this role, you will be part of the bioinformatics team, performing both standardized and customized analysis and developing and optimizing our pipelines and products. The work is very varied due to the different nature of our commercial projects and the wide range of products we offer. Do you enjoy working on different types of projects on a day to day basis while also being responsible for the quality status of our products, this might be the job you’re looking for!

Who are you?

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics with demonstrable (5 years) bioinformatics, programming and DNA sequence analysis experience.
  • You are able to manage data analysis for commercial projects independently and be able to manage deadlines.
  • You are quality oriented, trying to get the best results out of the sequencing data.
  • Excellent knowledge of Python, Bash and in-depth knowledge of NGS technologies are essential.
  • If you have additional experience of (microbial) genomics, R, NextFlow, Biostatistics as well as an understanding of laboratory management and quality systems, we see this as a  benefit.
  • You live near our office location at the Leiden Bio Science Park.
