Over the last three decades we have built up experience and increasingly strong expertise in microbial genomics. BaseClear offers a complete range of microbial genomics services including: metagenomics, microbiome analysis and microbial strain characterization for regulatory approval. We are the preferred partner for many leading brands in various industries such as pharma, cosmetics, food industry and animal health in The Netherlands, in Europe and beyond. We currently have approximately 65 employees and are proudly located in the heart of the Leiden Bio Science Park, the leading biomedical hotspot in Europe.

For our growing product development department we are looking for candidates for the position of:

Biostatistician Intern for Human Health Product Line
(1 FTE)

Position

For the department Product Development we are looking for an intern who will be responsible for Biostatistical Analysis of Microbiome Data. You will be part of motivated team and work closely together with Product Developers and Business developers.
Main tasks:
1. Develop microbiome analysis workflow.
2. Apply a range of statistical tools depending on research questions.
3. Integrate multi-cohort metadata with microbiome data.

The student is supervised by the Product Developer and works closely with other departments within BaseClear to achieve the above goals.

Profile

  • We are looking for a MSc candidate with expertise in statistical approaches to microbiome community data analysis.
  • Background in biostatistics is a must!
  • Strong skills of microbiome community data analysis is a plus.
  • Interest in making a production-ready pipeline.
  • Strong programming skills in R and Linux are a must and Phyton is a plus.
  • Good communication skills and and fluent in English is must.

Enthusiastic, flexible and driven candidate with a “can-do” mentality who has the ability to work accurately and result-oriented under pressure of deadlines.

Our offer

We offer a challenging full-time (40-hour) position in a growing high-tech company, where you would work in a team and with a high degree of independence. The appointment is for a definitive period (4-6 months).
This is a paid internship.
