Business Developer
(1,0 FTE)

Job:

The successful candidate will join the commercial team as a Business Developer for the biotech & pharma industry. The candidate is responsible for lead generation & validation, new customer acquisition, and contract negotiation towards closure. The role will require both national and international travel to meet customers and to attend relevant conferences and business events. You will be a part of the Commercial Team comprising of satellite business developers, account managers, and marketeers; and working closely with product managers.

Profile:

You are responsible for the new customer acquisition, lead generation and qualification from food, feed, pharma & cosmetics markets.

You are proactive, outgoing, enthusiastic and result & growth driven and ambitious.

You have a commercial mindset, enjoys negotiation and closing complex deals and are comfortable In discussion with multiple levels in our customer organisations.

You have a strong network within the food, pharma and biotech market.

Specifically we are searching for a candidate with the following experience and characteristics:

  • Educated to Masters degree level, preferably in a bioscience, biotechnology or medical disciplines or similar.
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated business development experience, market development, new customer acquisition.
  • Proactive, go-getter, excellent communication skills and a high level of energy.
  • A desire & ambition to grow into Business development roles.
  • Experience in the food, feed and pharma market, and ideally with Microbiology and Next-Generation sequencing is a big plus.
  • The ability to work well both independently and within a team and be able to meet strict deadlines.
  • Can-do-mentality, focused and willing to travel up to 50% of the time while working remotely as needed.
  • Based in (or close by) Leiden.

You will work as part of a highly motivated team of account managers, business developers, marketeers and scientists and be in constant contact with customers and external partners.

What we offer:

A challenging fulltime position within a growing biotech company, you will be a part of an ambitious team based in our state-of-the-art building in Leiden. Salary is dependent on your qualifications and experience. The position is Leiden based with the flexibility to work from home for some days per week.
