BaseClear was founded in 1993, and ever since has been a pioneer in genomic analysis. We have been on the forefront of microbial genomics innovations and industrial applications. BaseClear offers a complete range of microbial genomics services for many applications including clinical trials wherein microbiome readouts are also part of results: metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, microbiome analysis and microbial strain characterization for regulatory approval.

Head of Product Development
(32–40 hours per week)
What we need you for:
In this role, you will be part of BaseClear’s management team. Next to that you will lead a team of highly motivated scientists, product developers and bioinformaticians. Additionally, you will work closely with the commercial and operational teams to develop new products and be in regular contact with customers.
You are responsible for the product management and development towards commercialization at BaseClear. You will be responsible for delivering a competitive product portfolio with clear USPs aligned with BaseClear’s short-mid-long term strategy. Furthermore, you steer the product lines strategically and are responsible for the technical performance of the product lines.
Your profile:
You have the following experience:
- Educated to PhD level, preferably in Microbiology, Bioinformatics or Genomics.
- At least 5 years management experience in a commercial environment.
- Product Development experience in the biotech, food, feed and pharma market, and ideally with Microbiology and Next-Generation sequencing in a big plus.
- Preferably based in (or close to) Leiden.
In addition, you are proactive, enthusiastic, an excellent communicator and have strong people- and project management skills.

Salary is dependent on your qualifications and experience. The position is based in Leiden with the flexibility to work from home for some days per week.
