BaseClear offers a complete range of microbial genomics services including: genome sequencing and annotation, metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, microbiome analysis and microbial strain characterization for regulatory approval.

The team :

For a growing company and a in booming industry, we are looking for a Marketing Manager, part of the commercial team.

The commercial team is composed of Marketing, Sales and Account Management. The team has a vacancy for Marketing Manager to support BaseClear’s growth ambition and market positioning goals. The candidate will play a key role in corporate branding, market positioning, marketing campaign management, market research and in communication strategies. The commercial & product development teams are closely knit, and the candidate is expected work closely with both groups. The microbial genomics market is dynamic, growing and demanding. As our Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for developing, and implementing the yearly strategic marketing plan.

A customer and market driven approach is crucial to the job to support existing and new business. The activities you coordinate are aimed at promoting BaseClear’s business, services, products, and brand. You will have a key role in delivering annual budgets and performance, generating new business aligned leads, (new) product launches and promotions, and analysing market trends. Additionally you will be the primary contact point for all outsourced marketing activities. Supervising marketing department staff is part of the role.

You operate within the commercial team and will work closely on daily basis with account managers, business developers and marketing team. You will be a part of the senior commercial team and report directly to the Commercial Director.


  • Academic background (Master) in Marketing. Knowledge of biology and related subjects is an added benefit.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing or similar role.
  • Supervision and project management skills. Experience with coordinating third parties or outsourced marketing activities.
  • Experience with one or more CRMs is a must: Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, Hubspot or similar.
  • Creative, flexible, focused, ambition to grow, can-do-mentality, with a proactive commercial mindset.
  • Experienced in working with scientists and researchers as clients will be an advantage.
  • The ability to work well independently and with inter departments.
  • Willingness to travel when required.

Salary is dependent on your qualifications and experience. The vacancy is Leiden based.
