The team:

For our commercial team, we are looking for a new colleague who will take on the position of Senior/Key Account manager.  You will play a key role in the interaction with our top (international) customers. Therefore we are looking for an account manager with a broad experience. The commercial team consists of account managers, business developers and marketeers. The team also works closely  with other departments within the company. We are looking for an energetic, ambitious and solution driven colleague.

Senior/Key Account Manager – Biotechnology
(1 FTE)


In this role you will be responsible for the growth of our turnaround with key customers and building strong and sustainable customer relationships. Aligned with the microbial genomics industry growth, our key accounts are international and many are growing fast. The ability to secure success in a complex sales process & strong account management skills are core to this function.

The senior/key account manager will also take a key role within the commercial team e.g., in key-decision making based on the years of prior work experience. Cross sales  of new products, coaching of junior team members, coordinating marketing activities, e.g., new product launch strategies, budgeting, CAPA coordination will be among the additional responsibilities. The role will require both national and international travel to meet customers and to attend relevant conferences and business events.

You will be part of the Senior commercial team member and will directly report to the Commercial Director.


  • Background (Master) in bioscience, (industrial or food) biotechnology, nutrition sciences, bioinformatics, microbiology or related discipline with affinity to genomics market & next generation sequencing.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ account management experience.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Experience with complex sales processes and with service agreements.
  • The ability to work well independently and with cross departmental teams.
  • Can-do-mentality, focused, flexible and willingness to travel to attend scientific conferences and/or visit customer locations.
  • You are a ‘go-getter’, with a proactive commercial mindset, experienced working with scientists and researchers as clients.
  • Direct, demonstrable experience with microbiology and genomics technologies and/or a good network in our market ( pharma, food ingredients and biotech) are a great advantage.

A challenging fulltime position in a growing biotech company, you will be a part of an ambitious team based in our state-of-the-art building in Leiden. Salary is dependent on your qualifications and experience. The position is Leiden based with the flexibility to work from home for some days per week.
