5th edition of the BioSB conference

On April 2-3 the BaseClear team attended the 5th edition of the Dutch Bioinformatics & Systems Biology (BioSB) conference in Lunteren. The BioSB 2019 conference discussed the latest developments in bioinformatics, systems and computational biology and interrelated disciplines, and their wide-ranging applications in life sciences & health, agriculture, food & nutrition. The 5th edition again attracted an impressive number of researchers and students from universities, UMCs and companies.

Given the success of the earlier editions and the growing number of attendees (over 400!), this year BaseClear aimed to more officially present itself to the audience as the Microbial Genomics Experts through a Silver sponsorship with a dedicated booth. And with success! We look back to a very fruitful meeting with many good discussions at the booth and during the different sessions. Also BaseClear organized together with DSM and Keygene an Industrial breakout session where business applications of metagenomics analysis in the area of food and health were presented by Jos Boekhorst (NIZO) and Eran Segal (Weizmann Institute of Science).

The Netherlands Bioinformatics and Systems Biology (BioSB) research school aims to offer a vibrant national environment for the scientific development and education of integrative bioinformatics and computational (systems) biology. The research school will foster building and maintaining a close research community where trust, loyalty, and mutual respect are key aspects driving research and education.
